Aarrgghh!!

It's a Wonderful Mensch

Background

It's a Wonderful Mensch was a short film I made for work. We had a film contest for our yearly Holiday party, and this was my entry.

This was a hard film for me to write. Primarily because it had to be funny and entertaining to me, but still be funny and appropriate for work. I've found that the universe of what's "work funny" and what's "Terry funny" overlap in very small ways. (as illustrated by the Venn diagram.) Secondly, I wanted to make a movie that had a sincere, positive ending, without it being too saccarine. Finally didn't have a lot of resources to use. Therefore I made this movie in about 3 hours of filming, and about 5 hours of editing. So you have here the results.

Plot

Matthew "Mensch" Thornton draws his boss' boss' boss, Gerry, for this year's Secret Santa at the holiday party. There's enormous pressure on getting him a proper gift since last the person who drew him last year gave him a lackluster gift, and suffered for it. Can Mensch get Gerry's a gift, that isn't crappy, for under $10, before the party? Watch and find out.
