Notes:

The original Holt's Connoisseur has a special significance to me. It was the first box of cigars I ever bought. One of my college roomates and I went it on it together. We were making almost weekly runs to Holt's and figured that the time had come to buy a box of the cigars we were smoking the most.

That was in the mid 90's. Holt's soon after discontinued the line. It was blamed on the 90's cigar boom. So many injustices caused by so many poseurs...

Flash forward to today, and Holt's has brought back the line from a new manufacturer. I couldn't wait. I had to pick them up, right away.

I was not disappointed. They are not identical to the original. But they have that same full taste, and same great construction. They start leathery, and end spicy. The first one I had straight from Holt's burned a little unevenly, which keeps it from a perfect construction rating, but the next few did very well after a few days in the humidor.

Value wise, they aren't cheap. But they are also really premium cigars you can only get from one place, so I say give them a try.
