Aarrgghh!!

Shortcut to Blogging in Word 2007

One of the features I love about Word 2007 is the fact that I can write my blog with it. It's annoying that it takes the following steps:

  • Open Word
  • Go to big button thing in the top corner
  • Choose "New"
  • Choose "New Blog Post"

I finally figured out a way to do it, and figured I would share.

  • Search your computer for Blog.dotx.
  • On my computer it's in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033\
  • Create a shortcut to that file.
  • Voila!

It seems so simple, I can't believe I missed it for so long.

Dude...that's so simple and brilliant! What I had done was put a link to New... dialog box in Word 2007 in the Quick Access Bar, which is that little bar just to the right of the new Office Button.

Your way is...well...way better!

Another shortcut that you could use is to go to the Office Button | Publish and then right-click on Blog to add the icon to your Quick Access Toolbar. Works great. :-)

Brilliant! Just what I need for my own Drupal based blog. Where are you ads?! 'Tis my own humble way of thinking constructive bloggers, but here I am unable to say thanks.

Bummer.

I'm sure lots of other lazies appreciated this bit but didn't post anything to show the love.

Big up to a fellow developer and hobbyist blogger.

Many, many thanks for this. It seems like it should have been a no-brainer to include a shortcut to blog creating blog posts but once again, MS demonstrates that are among the greatest of static thinkers among the business world.

Actually MS did provide this shortcut. If you customise your QuickLaunch toolbar in Word, look under all commands, you'll find and entry that reads "Send to Blog" - add this to your toolbar.

Clicking this button creates a new blog post. Better still, if you have an existing document open, it'll copy it all across into your new blog post ready to go.

Guys I am using blogspot.com for blogging.

I am unable to publish pics on my blog through word 2007.

Can anybody tell me the required setting for using picassaweb in word 2007

But what about security? I am using blogspot and when I set everything up in Word 2007 it says that user name and password will be visible to other people.

Does anyone know how to disable sending user name and password as plain text when logging into Blogger from Word 2007? I just do not want to reveal my user/pass to the whole world...
