Ah... politics
So as any of you that read this blog know, I have a newly found (past year and a half) interest in politics. However you might find that politics is boring. I beg to differ. I would like to submit to you, some of the weirdest, most amusing, or most disturbing political stories I have seen so far this cycle.
Yes Bush Can. Oh wait.
A group named Yes Bush Can has announced today that they are officially supporting Kerry. They said:
"In the course of our travels, we ended up learning more about Bush's policies than he wanted us to know," said Harmon Spellmeyer, one of the Yes, Bush Can team. "We came to see that this administration is a catastrophe for most people."
It's obviously a stunt, as the people material is all tongue in cheek and laced with sarcasm, but it really pulls off looking like a crazy group's website for a while. (Crazy in this context being like say...)
Pro Lifers Against Gay Marriage
Seen in this mailer, a group is tying gay marriage to abortion. Being a liberal who still has strong ties to his Catholic upbringing, (shhhh I'm a closeted Pro Lifer) I have to ask how do you make that connection?
In Holland, same sex marriage has led to increases in divorce, single parenting, and yes abortion.
They do have a reference for that quote though, which clearly states:
This is not to say that the data imply a causal relationship between the initiation of same-sex marriage and the breakdown of the family in the Netherlands.
Say it with me people "Correlation does not imply causality."
Shot Gun Senator
What's worse? A candidate for congress threatens his wife with a shotgun?
or
That he is still leading?
My Personal Favorite
Meet Tom Coburn.
Tom stands for:
- Death penalty for abortion providers. [Associated Press State & Local Wire, 7/9/04]
- Preventing the rampant lesbianism occurring in schools.
- And is of course against government waste like the National Endowment for the Arts
However he is for
- Sterilizing women against their will.
- Billing Medicare for it, fraudulently
- Also he thinks the people of Oklahoma City are crapheads
Have fun voting!
