The Debate

September 30, 2004

I'm very pro-Kerry. So I'm not sure, because I'm biased. But I think Kerry's wiping the floor with Bush. I think Bush is befuddled and confused. I've never seen Kerry this on target and single minded.

I wish Kerry would look at the camera; but dude, unless Bush executes a terrorist in the last few minutes, I think Kerry takes this round.

But I don't know how it plays with someone who isn't already biased. Any undecideds read this?

Politics,

Project Vote Smart

Want a disturbing amount of information about any candidate for office? Wouldn't it be cool if you could get information for all of your elections, not just Kerry vs Bush? Check out this site:

http://www.vote-smart.org/index.htm

They claim to be no-partisan, and they look it (but I've been fooled before.) It has no commentary, just, who supports this candidate, how did they vote, where do they get their money. Some of the candidates have even filled out surveys about their positions. Very cool, if you're looking to look past all of the hype about the candidates.

Also good if your looking into a race in which you know absolutely nothing about the candidate- I'm looking at you Joe Hoeffel!

Absurd Movie Promo

September 26, 2004

So I was just watching a promo for The Alamo on DVD. The selling point: "From the studio that brought you Pearl Harbor". Dude, that's digging a little deep to find something to sell it.

Are we next going to hear: "The distributor that brought you The GodFather is proud to present- Bio-dome?

I hope so.

Surreal Moment at the Kerry Rally

September 24, 2004

So I went to the Kerry rally at Hill Field earlier today. I am now fantastically sunburned. I even have a reverse racoon thing going on on account of my sunglasses.

So there were Bush protesters there, and whatever, they have a right to say what they want to say. However there were two guys there in a giant foam flip-flop. Which makes me wonder, who does that make look bad? Bush? Kerry? No. The only people that look bad as a result of this are guys in the giant foam flip-flops. Fun, silly, but they're not to be taken seriously.

I lost track of them until I got in line. All of a sudden there's one of foam flip-flops arguing with little old lady in front of me. Turns out her stepson died in Iraq, and she's decided that Bush is responsible. She's not likely to change her mind for anything. But there's foam flip-flop guy arguing with her. She asking questions like "Why aren't you over in Iraq?" He responds "Because I've got a deferment, cause I'm in school, but I'm going after I get out."

So now I got the mental image of foam flip-flop guy armed with a machine gun, fighting insurgents in his giant foam flip-flop. Be afraid terrorists! The Amazing Flip-flop is coming for you. And you'll never hear him coming. Except that you will, because, you know, he makes that flip-flop noise when he tries to sneak up on you.

Net, net here people: don't try to talk about issues if you are in a giant foam costume.

Situation: Comedy

September 22, 2004

So I just finished up my sitcom screenplay (teleplay I guess.) It's for for Bravo's new reality show Situation:Comedy.

I'm not so sure about it, but Janice seemed to really like it, and she doesn't like anything I write.
