Aarrgghh!!

Clash of the Titans on the Big Screen

One of my RSS feeds showed this to me today.

It contains storyboards for Van Helsing. Now what ever you think of the movie, storyboards are storyboards, they can be helpful, and as an audience member, you don't get to see too many of them. .

Thanks to (among other things) that dumb owl and Harry Hamlin's greasy, exposed chest, I wouldn't touch that movie with a 10-foot mythological pole. Or maybe it's because my brain-dead seventh grade english teacher really liked it. In either case, damn you, Terry!

That movie contained mythological material "Ripped from the Bullfinch's Textbook"! It was easily the most accurate portrayal of the legend of Perseus possible. I know for a fact that Ovid always wanted a mechanical owl in his telling of the story. I know this because Ovid told this to me... in a dream... while he was riding Seabiscuit...

Aarrgghh Guy! From the IMDB trivia:

The original script called for Perseus to cut off Medusa's head by throwing his shield at her. Harry Hamlin convinced the producers to let him use his sword, as that was how it happened according to Greek Mythology.

Harry Hamlin, lawyer, Kraken-killer, defender of classical mythology. Is there nothing you cannot do?
