Since When?

According to the quiz I just took, I have a Philly accent.

I know after 5 years in Delaware, my mom said my speech had gotten more Southern. But since she's spent her entire life on Long Island, I didn't think about it much. I thought I'd just hidden that last bit of NY that got me made fun of when I started college.

Is it true?

11 years in Philly and I haven't lost my accent! What American accent do you have? Your Result: The West Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.

13 years in the mid-atlantic and I still sound like I'm from Minnesota. I guess some things never die... Your results: The Inland North. You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."
