I like narcotics

I'm still having trouble with bursitis in my hip (that's what my apparent knee problem two weeks ago turned out to be), so today I went back to the doctor and complained a lot and she gave me a script for Percoset, which I filled as soon as I got home today. I feel SOOO much better now! Apparently, I'm also much more tolerable to be around. Pain makes me cranky. But drugs are good. I like drugs.

So what exactly is bursitis? 75% of the injuries to my team in Madden 2006 is because of bursitis and I have no idea what it is. I was beginning to think that EA Sports made up an injury. (Assuming it's not too graphic)

Here's a really good, albiet long explanation: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/bursitis/DS00032 A bursa is a fluid-filled sac that we have in basically all our joints, to cushion the pressure points where the bones, tendons, ligaments, and muscles meet. Think of it like a gel insole that you'd put in your shoes, but inside the joint instead. Occiasionally, because of trauma, stress, or repetitive motion, these sacs can become inflamed, making pressure or movement of a particular joint painful. This is bursitis. It hurts a lot, and if it's in a major joint, it can be hard to heal. For instance, I have it in my hip. The best thing to do for bursitis is to rest the joint, to give the inflammation time to go down, which can work when it's in your elbow, or even your knee, where it's easier to stay off the affected area. However, hip and shoulder bursitis are much harder to recover from, because those joints are in use pretty much all the time, even lying down. You can't lie down without having some pressure on your pelvis, because your hips keep your legs attached to your body, and legs are pretty heavy. I would advive you to engage your Madden 2006 team in a core-body strengthening and stretching program, like yoga and pilates. By strengthening the back, abs, and upper legs, you relieve pressure on all your joints, so that every day movement and sports put less pressure directly on the joints themselves. I myself will be starting physical therapy soon. I knew I needed to start some sort of exercise program like this, but I put off setting up a personal trainer to get me started. Bad idea.
